Indigo hotels us11/7/2023 The hotel doesn't even provide a bar of soap. In the bathroom, the usual toiletries have been replaced by multi-use dispensers. No newspapers are provided in the lobby or in the restaurant. Those issues aside, the elevator flooring was dirty and looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a long time. It's also an issue for anyone with luggage since the hotel doesn't have a bellman or doorman to assist guests. There was no elevator, which is obviously an issue for anyone with mobility issues. Three or four rooms at the end of my hallway were located down a set of stairs. The other poorly designed part of the hotel is the floor layout. While my salmon with the barley risotto and asparagus was excellent, they aren't making any effort at all in the bar/restaurant. This would explain why the restaurant and bar were empty without a single customer. A meager discount or some sort of incentive would get guests to spend money eating and drinking on-property at the hotel as opposed to going elsewhere. The front desk doesn't mention it at check-in, there's no menu in the room, and no room service is offered. There is also zero promotion of the bar/restaurant. Instead of having a prominent location in the lobby or in the small patio/green space, the bar is hidden away in the restaurant at the end of a nondescript corridor. That's because it is entirely possible to stay at the hotel and not realize there is a bar and restaurant. Unfortunately, the hotel is poorly designed. Staff were polite, IHG elite status was good (including a proactive upgrade before check-in), the room was clean and well-appointed, and the attached bar/restaurant was actually good. Almost everything is within walking distance. The best part of the hotel is its location. I stayed at Hotel Indigo recently when I was in downtown Cleveland. I’m grateful for those that wrote about their experiences so we were prepared. Ended up parking to the north about 0.3 miles away in the BBVA Bank public garage for about $10. We tried to park in the casino garage just to the west with no luck as we didn’t have a player’s card. By the time we returned to the hotel that evening, the garage was full as was the one across the street. I say “approximately” because it went up to $20 when the Indians were playing baseball and one night there was a baseball game AND a concert at Rocket Mortgage Field House. You can self-park in the garage next door (see photo) for approximately $9/night. The hotel offers valet for $37/night and it will take a minimum of 15 minutes for your car to be available. Lastly, parking isn’t so much of an issue as it is a game. Request a room overlooking their courtyard, not the street side. We asked for one additional towel upon arrival and they were happy to deliver to the room about 20 minutes later. Due to COVID, there is no housekeeping service (which I honestly prefer). Thus, after taking a hot shower, the entire the room became humid/damp - be prepared. Because this is a recently renovated old building, I guess installing exhaust fans in the bathrooms was too expensive or difficult. If you’re attending a game/event at Progressive Field or Rocket Mortgage Field House, it’s the perfect location as you basically walk across the street to get there. Recently renovated, room was clean, bed comfortable and staff was friendly.
